Care & quality

Every Isa Ceramics piece is handmade with love: shaped, glazed, and fired by hand in my studio in the Netherlands.

Because of this process, no two pieces will ever be exactly the same. Small variations in shape, size, or glaze are part of the charm and character of handmade ceramics.

This page explains what’s considered normal for handmade pieces, and when you might want to reach out to me if something doesn’t feel right.

Normal handmade features

Slight glaze drips

Slight glaze drips

Small glaze drips or uneven lines happen naturally during firing, they don’t affect the mug’s use.

Subtle color variations

Subtle color variations

Each glaze reacts differently in the kiln, tones and shades may vary slightly from piece to piece.

Uneven rims or bases

Uneven rims or bases

Every mug is shaped by hand, so small asymmetries are completely normal.

Pinholes or tiny specks

Pinholes or tiny specks

These can appear naturally in the glaze during firing, they’re part of the handmade charm.

What is not normal?

• Anything else that feels uncertain, I’m always happy to take a look

How to care for your ceramics?

• All mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe, but handwashing is recommended for long-lasting beauty.

• Avoid extreme temperature changes (e.g., pouring boiling water into a cold mug).

• Let mugs cool down naturally after use before washing.

• Don’t use your piece in the oven or on direct heat.
